My love for words is one of my earliest memories. Kindergarten. Age four. Mrs. Lahey reading a story after big lunch. One by one my classmates dozed off, slouching over the worn wooden desks. The room became quiet, eerie. All I heard was the teacher’s voice, rising and falling with the pulse of the story. I was transfixed.

Words are the way I make sense of this human experience. Words have kept me sane and kept me company. As a child I escaped to my bedroom and lost myself in an Agatha Christie murder mystery or Oscar Wilde satirical screenplay. On a lighter day it was a Nancy Drew adventure, and when I needed inspiration the biography of a statesman or movie star or famous writer.

Words have been my constant companion ever since: journal entries, Letters to the Editor, correspondence with pen pals, short stories, articles, essays, children’s picture books and adult fiction. On this website I share some of those words with you.
